UMC May Revenue Up 17.78% to NT$22.94 Billion, Hits 43-Month High
United Microelectronics Corp. (2303.TW, UMC) reported May revenue of NT$22.94 billion ($714 million) on June 5, 2026, a 17.78% increase from a year earlier and the highest in 43 months. The gain was driven by AI-fueled demand for power management chips. Revenue rose 1.23% from April. The Taiwanese chipmaker forecasts second-quarter wafer shipments to grow 7% to 9% from the first quarter and expects the second half of 2026 to outperform the first half. To offset rising raw material costs and higher expenses at its expanding Singapore facility, UMC is in discussions with customers to raise prices in the second half of the year. UMC is expanding globally with a third-phase fab in Singapore and a 12-nanometer technology development with Intel in the U.S., with volume production targeted for 2027.
