McManis Family Vineyards for Sale as Canadian Boycott, Weak Demand Batter California Wine Industry

McManis Family Vineyards, a family-owned winery spanning San Joaquin and Sacramento counties, is selling 3,500 acres of property after Canadian boycotts and falling demand eroded its business. The Ripon winery facility and surrounding land are listed at $22.5 million, with 10 vineyards priced from $800,000 to $14 million. Exports to Canada, once 40% of McManis' export sales, have fallen to 5%. The company shipped about 74,000 fewer cases to Canada between July 2025 and July 2026. U.S. wine exports totaled $805 million in 2025, down 35% from 2024, according to the Wine Institute. Provincial boycotts since March have erased roughly $360 million in expected revenue. The downturn has hit other producers: Signorello Estate filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Gallo plans layoffs and a Napa facility closure, and Constellation Brands will cut 212 jobs at its Madera winery.
