Apple Caps iPhone Duo Purchases at Two Per Customer Across Major Markets as Resale Premiums Surge
Apple has limited iPhone Duo purchases to two units per customer in the U.S., U.K., Japan, Spain and China after pre-orders for its first foldable phone outstripped supply, driving up resale premiums. The device goes on sale Friday in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options and in Starlight White and Midnight finishes. Apple said low hinge and assembly yields have constrained initial inventory, with online orders on its website now shipping as late as January. Media reports noted scalpers can still bypass the cap using multiple credit cards, delivery addresses and email accounts, limiting the measure's effectiveness. Secondary-market premiums range from several thousand to nearly 10,000 yuan, with some e-commerce listings promising delivery on launch day. In-store supply is also tight. Apple's website advises customers to check store stock after the 24th, and staff at several retail locations said no units would be available for walk-in purchase on launch day. Stores in Japan, South Korea and the UAE will serve only customers with pickup reservations.
