Apple's (AAPL) first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, has drawn reports of display failures less than a week after launch, with a user claiming the first external-screen defect on the device, marked by a green line. The user said on Monday the phone had been neither dropped nor bumped, according to Kuaikeji. The green line appeared where a short-video app left an unadapted black bar. Multiple consumers have also reported cracks at the internal screen's fold and display abnormalities. Apple said it is aware of issues with a small number of iPhone Duo units and advised affected users to seek replacement through AppleCare, adding that most units are unaffected. An IDC analyst said the problems show even Apple faces a steep learning curve in foldable screens. The Verge called the device a first-generation exploratory model with significant compromises.
