Apple Unveils M6 iMac and Entry 14-Inch MacBook Pro Ahead of Touch-Screen Debut
Apple Inc. unveiled a new 24-inch iMac and an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro on Tuesday, both powered by the M6 chip that first debuted in the Mac mini in September. The iMac moves from an M4 processor, while the MacBook Pro upgrades from last year's M5. Preorders open Wednesday, with availability starting Nov. 6. The iMac starts at $1,499 and the MacBook Pro at $1,999. Apple said the M6 makes the iMac five times faster than the 2024 model for artificial intelligence, while the new laptop is 30% speedier in graphics. Both add Bluetooth 6 and WiFi 7. Apple continues selling higher-end M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models. The launch is the second of three days of Mac announcements, following a revamped iPad mini on Monday. Apple will cap the week Wednesday with its first MacBook Pro featuring a touch screen, Bloomberg News has reported.
