Apple Boosts iPhone Duo Orders 30% After Sellout; Foxconn, TSMC, Shin Zu Shing to Benefit
Apple (AAPL) has asked suppliers to accelerate production and raised orders by 30% after its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, sold out on its October 23 launch, with all models clearing on day one and the second shipment wave pushed to January 22, 2027. Apple lifted its annual build estimate to 8-10 million units from 6 million. Resale prices reached $3,068, about 33% above the $2,300 entry price. Research firms now see 2027 shipments reaching 33 million units. Foxconn (2317-TW) assembles the device, TSMC (2330-TW) makes the processor, and a Foxconn-Shin Zu Shing (3376-TW) joint venture supplies hinges, with Amphenol (APH) as second supplier. Hinge capacity and assembly yield are the key constraints on expanding shipments. Analysts expect Apple to capture about 40% of the global foldable market in 2027, challenging Samsung's (005930KS) leadership.
