AbbVie (ABBV) said its migraine drug QULIPTA (atogepant) showed better tolerability and efficacy than topiramate in the Phase 3 TEMPLE study, with 12% of patients discontinuing due to adverse events versus 30% on topiramate. The trial met its primary endpoint, the company said. The 24-week study, published in The Lancet Neurology, enrolled 545 adults across 12 countries with at least four migraine days per month. During months four through six, 64% of QULIPTA patients achieved at least a 50% reduction in monthly migraine days, compared with 39% on topiramate. QULIPTA reduced monthly migraine days by an average of 6.3 from baseline versus 4.5 for topiramate. QULIPTA, a CGRP receptor antagonist, and topiramate were compared head-to-head. Eligible participants could enter a 52-week open-label extension, whose results have not been published. AbbVie will report third-quarter 2026 results Friday, October 30, before the market opens. ABBV closed Wednesday at $285.99, down 0.14%, and traded pre-market at $289.58, up 1.10%.
