Acumen Pharmaceuticals Halts Sabirnetug Development After Phase 2 ALTITUDE-AD Trial Fails Primary Endpoint; ABOS Down 85%
Acumen Pharmaceuticals (ABOS) said it will discontinue development of sabirnetug (ACU193) after its Phase 2 ALTITUDE-AD trial in early Alzheimer's disease failed to meet its primary endpoint of slowing cognitive and functional decline at 18 months. The trial showed no statistically significant benefit on the primary iADRS endpoint at either the 35 mg/kg or 50 mg/kg dose versus placebo. Key secondary endpoints, including CDR-SB, also missed statistical significance. Sabirnetug was generally well tolerated, with ARIA-E observed in approximately 10% of treated participants; both doses produced statistically significant amyloid plaque reduction at Weeks 36 and 76. Acumen will halt the program, including the trial's open-label extension, implement cash conservation measures and explore strategic options, including its Enhanced Brain Delivery program. ABOS traded at $0.33, down 85.59%.
