Axcelis Technologies to Build $35 Million Ion Implantation Plant in South Korea

Axcelis Technologies (ACLS) said Tuesday it will begin construction of a $35 million ion implantation equipment manufacturing facility in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, expanding capacity to serve semiconductor customers worldwide. The 200,000-square-foot plant will extend Axcelis' existing Korean operations and include warehousing, cleanrooms and a training center, with a production layout designed for efficiency and flexibility. Manufacturing is expected to begin in the second half of 2028. Shares of the Beverly, Massachusetts-based company were trading up 1.61 percent at $112.99 on the Nasdaq.
