AMD CEO Lisa Su plans to meet Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun, who heads the company's semiconductor business, in South Korea on Wednesday, according to people familiar with the matter. Both companies declined to comment. It is Su's second trip to Seoul in seven months. Memory products are broadly in short supply and prices are surging, making memory one of data center operators' largest costs. AMD and Samsung reached a supply agreement in March under which Samsung will provide AMD with next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and advanced memory chips. In Taipei on Tuesday, Su said AMD plans to increase chip supply in 2027 to meet growing AI demand, aiming to expand CPU and GPU output through its supply chain. She met with Foxconn (2317-TW) and plans talks with TSMC (2330-TW). Samsung and SK Hynix are among South Korean firms committing a combined $880 billion to AI-era digital infrastructure and data centers.
