Anthropic filed papers Monday for an initial public offering that could raise as much as $100 billion, surpassing the record $86 billion SpaceX offering in June, and will list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker "ANT." The filing sets up a Wall Street debut next month, putting the AI lab ahead of rival OpenAI in going public. The 335-page document showed rapid revenue growth but no profit: the maker of the Claude chatbot reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with a $13 billion loss a year earlier. Anthropic was valued at $965 billion by private investors earlier this year, with reports suggesting a valuation of $1.5 trillion or possibly $2 trillion, though final terms are not established. The filing comes weeks after CEO Dario Amodei argued in an essay for slowing development of the most advanced AI models. An IPO could give the five-year-old company vast resources to accelerate expansion and add billions to the wealth of Amodei and co-founder Daniela Amodei.
