Boeing Co. (BA) said Tuesday that the Federal Aviation Administration has certified the 737-10, the newest member of its 737 MAX family, clearing the manufacturer to begin deliveries in the coming months. The 737-10 is the first commercial airplane certified to the full extent of the 2020 Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act. Boeing said the certification program included more than 2,000 flight hours and 1,000 ground test hours. The aircraft seats 230 passengers and offers the lowest per-seat costs of any single-aisle airplane in service, with 365 nautical miles more range than competitors without auxiliary fuel tanks. It also adds an enhanced Angle-of-Attack system that will become standard across the 737 MAX family. More than 30 customers have ordered the 737-10, with total orders of 1,555 airplanes, or over 30% of the 737 MAX program's current order book, Boeing said. Shares closed Tuesday at $190.47, down 0.50% on the New York Stock Exchange.
