Becton Dickinson (BDX) signed an agreement with the Trump administration to invest $19 billion in the United States in exchange for relief from future tariffs, the medical-device maker said on October 6, 2026. The Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based company plans to direct $3 billion of the total toward expanding domestic manufacturing, including more than $1 billion in Nebraska. BD also intends to produce an additional 5 billion medical consumables annually in the U.S., raising its share of domestically supplied essential consumables to roughly 80%, and to manufacture all U.S.-used needles with American-made steel. The deal follows similar arrangements by Apple, Micron, Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson as President Trump pushes to revive domestic manufacturing. Trump said he would impose medical device tariffs by year-end. BD declined to quantify the agreement's financial effect, citing pending tariff scope and milestone requirements.
