Generic Drug Settlements Offer $533 Million; Claim Deadline Nov. 9
Consumers and third-party payers of generic prescription drugs face a Nov. 9 deadline to file claims under settlements totaling $533 million. The settlements resolve class actions against generic manufacturers — including Sun/Taro, Apotex and Heritage, and Sandoz — over alleged antitrust, consumer protection and common law violations. The defendants deny liability. The settlements cover drugs purchased in the United States between May 1, 2009 and December 21, 2019, spanning creams, ointments, tablets and injectable vials. Named drugs in various doses include Albuterol, Amphetamines, Gabapentin, Levothyroxine and Methadone HCL. Actual payouts to valid claimants will depend on the number of valid claims filed for each settlement and deductions for attorney and litigation fees. Claims can be filed via the settlement website.
