OKX Launches OKX Money to Convert 50 Local Currencies Into Dollar Stablecoins
OKX launched OKX Money on October 6, 2026, a standalone app converting more than 50 local currencies into U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins, targeting emerging markets in Latin America, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. The platform supports Paxos's USDG, Circle's USDC and Tether's USDT, offering up to 10% annual yield on eligible USDG balances, no-FX-markup virtual and physical cards, and referral rewards. OKX cited currency volatility, limited banking access and foreign-exchange fees as drivers of demand. The launch follows Intercontinental Exchange's March 2026 investment, which valued OKX at $25 billion. On October 4, 2026, the OKX-ICE joint venture filed with the SEC for a platform trading over 60 tokenized U.S. stocks around the clock. OKX also introduced OKX Shield, reimbursing up to $100,000 for users and $500,000 for top VIPs after third-party takeovers. Roughly 97% of global stablecoin value remains tied to the U.S. dollar.
