Wall Street analysts told clients Friday that the record-breaking $6.3 billion Binance hack is a buying opportunity rather than a reason to exit crypto, urging investors to accumulate crypto-linked equities while prices are depressed. The theft, the largest in crypto history, sent Bitcoin sliding toward $77,000 a day earlier. Cantor Fitzgerald's Ramsey El-Assal noted that stablecoin issuers and others froze roughly $3 billion of the stolen funds — Tether over $1.5 billion, Circle about $800 million and Ripple around $200 million. He expects shares of Coinbase, Robinhood and Strategy to recover once panic fades, writing, "We would be buyers on weakness," and adding, "this is not 2022." TD Cowen's Lance Vitanza argued the breach exposed weaknesses in Binance's own security rather than Bitcoin's underlying technology. Compass Point's Ed Engel and Michael Donovan said Binance has "more than enough liquidity to cover the hole," flagging the $75,000 to $77,000 Bitcoin range as a key level. Moody's Ratings' Cristiano Ventricelli cautioned the incident "underscores the heightened cybersecurity risks associated with hot wallets." Binance has set aside $6.34 billion to cover losses; the Secret Service and FBI are probing, with the hack tied to North Korea's TraderTraitor group.
