Dogecoin Labs Forms to Consolidate DOGE Products, Ecosystem Development
Dogecoin Labs launched Tuesday alongside the Dogecoin Foundation to consolidate the meme coin's scattered products, intellectual property and development teams into a single independent company aimed at expanding everyday uses for DOGE. The new entity will own and operate three flagship products — the MyDoge wallet, the DogeOS app platform and Such App, a merchant-payments tool — with assets and talent contributed by the Foundation and House of Doge. CEO Jordan Jefferson, founder of MyDoge and DogeOS, said the goal is to build wallets, payments, trading, DeFi, gaming, AI and social apps. DOGE traded around $0.084 on Tuesday, up 3.9% for the day at a roughly $13 billion market cap, but down about 14% over the past month and roughly 88% below its May 2021 record. The reorganization follows DogeOS's Sept. 30 public testnet launch and a V3 update to MyDoge, which has surpassed 500,000 users. The Foundation will retain stewardship and open-source support while Labs handles commercial development.
