GE HealthCare to Buy Sofie Biosciences for $945 Million in Cash
GE HealthCare Technologies (GEHC) agreed on Monday, October 5, 2026, to acquire Sofie Biosciences from private-equity firm Trilantic North America for $945 million in cash, expanding its radiopharmaceutical diagnostics portfolio. Sofie Biosciences, based in Dulles, Virginia, operates a network of pharmacies that manufacture and distribute radioactive tracers used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The deal grants GE HealthCare U.S. rights to FAPI-74, a PET radiotracer in Phase III trials for detecting a broad range of cancers; the company already holds ex-U.S. rights. GE HealthCare's pharmaceutical diagnostics unit generated $2.9 billion in revenue last year, posted roughly 15% growth in the second quarter and accounts for about 16% of overall sales. The company targets closing in the first half of 2027 and expects the deal to be revenue-accretive within its first full year of ownership. Sofie will continue supplying PET products from other radiopharmaceutical providers and operate as a contract manufacturer.
