Google and Constellation Energy announced a 20-year power purchase agreement on Oct. 6, 2026, to add 890 megawatts of new nuclear capacity to the PJM Interconnection grid, with Constellation committing over $4.3 billion to fund the build-out. The capacity will come from upgrades at 11 Constellation nuclear units in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The first uprate is expected by 2028. The deal is expected to sustain about 4,400 existing jobs and create roughly 7,200 construction jobs. The companies also entered a separate 15-year energy supply agreement covering an additional 2,700 megawatts from Constellation's existing PJM fleet, plus a five-year technology agreement for Constellation to deploy Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise. The deal follows Constellation's 20-year agreement with Amazon last week for 690 megawatts from the Calvert Cliffs plant in Maryland, which unlocked more than $3 billion in infrastructure investment.
