Indian stock markets are closed today for Dussehra, after benchmark indexes Sensex and Nifty each fell more than 1% on Monday amid persistent foreign investor outflows and elevated crude oil prices. Foreign investors net sold shares worth Rs. 1,148.64 crore on Monday, while domestic institutional investors net bought Rs. 3,201.19 crore, according to provisional exchange data. Investors also assessed September-quarter earnings from prominent private banks. The rupee settled 3 paise lower at 94.92 against the U.S. dollar, snapping a six-session winning streak. Brent crude held near $110 a barrel amid escalating Middle East and Eastern Europe conflicts, while gold stayed below $4,130 an ounce. Asia-Pacific growth is expected to slow to 4.4% in 2027 from 4.8% in 2026, the IMF said, citing higher energy prices, rising global bond yields and uncertainty over AI demand.
