Inspired Capital Closes $450M Fourth Fund, Lifting Assets to Nearly $1.4B
Inspired Capital, the early-stage venture firm founded in 2019 by Alexa von Tobel and Penny Pritzker, has closed its fourth fund with $450 million in commitments, bringing assets under management to nearly $1.4 billion. The New York-based raise follows a $330 million third fund closed in early 2024, a $281 million second fund and a $200 million debut fund. Von Tobel said 12 companies across the firm's first two funds have become unicorns, about 15% of the portfolio, with 10 surpassing $100 million in revenue, four exceeding $400 million and one topping $500 million. Inspired counts more than 10 exits, including MosaicML, acquired for $1.3 billion in June by Databricks, DeepTune, acquired by Mercor in July, and Saturn, bought by Snap last year. The firm backs roughly 10 companies annually, writing checks of $1 million to $15 million from the napkin stage through Series A. Its portfolio is split about 45% East Coast, 45% West Coast and 10% elsewhere.
