ING Unveils Up to €1.9 Billion Payout, Including €1.65 Billion Buyback
ING Groep N.V. (ING) announced Thursday a shareholder distribution of up to €1.9 billion, comprising a buyback of up to €1.65 billion and a €250 million cash payment, after receiving European Central Bank approval. The buyback begins October 29 and is expected to conclude no later than April 26, 2027; the cash payment will be made January 14, 2027. ING said the distribution is intended to hold its Common Equity Tier 1 ratio near its roughly 13% target, with the implied 56-basis-point impact already reflected in reported figures. The bank's CET1 ratio stood at 13.3% at the end of the third quarter of 2026, above the prevailing 11.10% requirement. The buyback will run through a financial intermediary under the Market Abuse Regulation, within existing authorization to acquire up to 20% of issued shares. ING closed 0.98% higher at $32.89 on the New York Stock Exchange.
