Jakarta Composite Index Poised for Lower Open After 3.49% Thursday Plunge
Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index faces a lower open Friday, sitting just beneath the 5,100-point plateau after two declines in three sessions and likely continued consolidation, tracking soft Asian markets. The JCI crashed 184.25 points, or 3.49%, to close at its daily low of 5,098.06 on Thursday, after peaking at 5,320.90. Losses were led by industrial, infrastructure, energy, technology and finance companies. Wall Street's negative lead weighed on sentiment. The Dow shed 0.25% to 52,342.56, the NASDAQ tumbled 1.38% to 26,184.72 and the S&P 500 sank 0.30% to 7,720.39, with technology stocks pressured. Alphabet (GOOGL) plunged 13.2% on weaker-than-expected third-quarter revenue and negative free cash flow. U.S. consumer prices rose in line with estimates for September. December WTI crude fell $0.79, or 0.77%, to $101.99 per barrel.
