Southwest Airlines Q3 Profit Rises to $270 Million, Revenue Up 21.2%

Southwest Airlines Inc. (LUV) reported third-quarter earnings of $270 million, or $0.55 per share, up from $54 million, or $0.10 per share, a year earlier, the company announced. Excluding items, the carrier posted adjusted earnings of $328 million, or $0.66 per share. Revenue for the period rose 21.2% to $8.422 billion from $6.949 billion last year. Southwest guided next-quarter EPS to a range of $0.55 to $0.80 and full-year EPS to $2.60 to $2.85.
