Fed Chair Warsh to Attend Nov. 16 Productivity Task Force Hearing in San Francisco Bay Area
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said he will attend a November 16 field hearing of the central bank's productivity and jobs task force in the San Francisco Bay Area to gather views on technology, productivity and their impact on monetary policy. Warsh made the announcement at a news conference following the Fed's decision to hold rates steady. Warsh said the conference will examine AI-driven productivity implications for the economy across the near, medium and long term, and whether those gains arrive quickly or slowly. He said he is "keenly interested in refining my own views on that question." The hearing will also address whether AI affects the Fed's ability to achieve price stability over the next several years and what it means for jobs. Warsh said those issues will be explored "largely in the public realm on November 16th."
