The International Monetary Fund said Thursday its current mission to Egypt aims to reach a staff-level agreement and bring it to its executive board for approval before mid-December. The mission is conducting the final review of Egypt's current programs, which end on December 15. Julie Kozack, the fund's director of communications, said discussions will focus on maintaining tight monetary policy and the fiscal consolidation plan, aimed at preserving the macroeconomic stability Egypt has worked to achieve. She added that structural reforms remain central to the talks. "The goal of these reforms is to support stronger, more private sector-led growth in Egypt," Kozack said during a scheduled briefing.
