China's commerce ministry extended two investigations into US trade practices by three months, to December 27, citing case complexity, according to two statements dated September 27. The probes, launched March 27, examine US measures that Beijing says "disrupt global supply and industrial chains" and "hinder trade in green products." They were originally set to conclude within six months but are subject to extension. The counter-probes responded to US Section 301 investigations into forced labor and excess industrial capacity. The extension follows new China-US trade talks, at which the two sides agreed to extend their trade truce by two months, through January 10, and to cut tariffs on $60 billion of goods.
