ICE Agents Shoot Person in Bronx; Victim Hospitalized, NYPD Says
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shot a person in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, according to a person familiar with the matter. The shooting occurred at about 4 p.m., the New York Police Department said in a statement. The person who was shot was conscious and receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital, the department said. The NYPD said it wasn't involved in the incident and had no officers at the scene when the incident occurred. It wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting or whether anyone was taken into custody. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. A series of shootings involving federal immigration agents, including incidents earlier this year when US citizens were killed, has drawn national attention to the Trump administration's enforcement efforts.
