Malaysia's KLCI Eyes Mild Gains as Global Markets Rally on Earnings, Easing Oil
Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Composite Index may extend its winning streak Thursday after closing at 1,602.27, up 2.69 points or 0.17 percent on Wednesday. The benchmark has gained more than 5 points, or 0.3 percent, over two consecutive sessions. Wednesday's session saw the index trade between 1,596.69 and 1,604.13, with gains in technology and financial shares offset by weakness in resource and energy stocks. The positive regional outlook follows a firm Wall Street close, where the Dow rose 0.69 percent to 52,856.09, the NASDAQ gained 1.05 percent to 26,702.86 and the S&P 500 added 0.58 percent to 7,757.17. The tech-heavy NASDAQ advance reflected positive earnings reactions from SpaceX (SPCX), Tesla (TSLA) and Super Micro Computer (SMCI). Crude oil prices eased on reports of progress in Strait of Hormuz shipping traffic, with West Texas Intermediate for December delivery down $0.69, or 0.71 percent, at $97.13 per barrel.
