NYSE American Options Halts Trading on Technical Issue; Other Venues Disregard Quotes

NYSE American Options suspended trading in some options securities due to a technical issue, prompting other exchanges to disregard quotes from the venue, according to exchange notifications. The exchange is one of 20 U.S. options venues and accounts for roughly 10% of the more than 70 million equity options contracts traded daily. Rival exchanges said they are now ignoring NYSE American Options quotes. Options exchanges generally prohibit executing orders at a worse price than shown on another exchange, but that rule can be waived during system malfunctions such as this one.
