Spectral AI Files CMS NTAP Application for DeepView Burn Diagnostic; MDAI Up 2.66%
Spectral AI Inc. (MDAI) said it submitted a New Technology Add-On Payment application to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for its DeepView System under the alternative pathway. The stock rose 2.66% to $1.73. The DeepView System is a non-invasive device combining multispectral imaging with a proprietary AI algorithm to assess whether areas within burn wounds are unlikely to heal within 21 days and may require further intervention. The FDA granted it De Novo Classification in May 2026. NTAP provides additional inpatient reimbursement for qualifying new technologies, capped at about 65% of the estimated technology cost. Spectral AI expects a CMS final determination in August 2027, with reimbursement generally beginning October 2027 and lasting about three years if approved. "We will continue to evaluate other payment and reimbursement pathways," CEO Vincent Capone said. MDAI closed Monday's trading at $1.69 and has traded between $1.18 and $2.97 over the past year.
