3M (MMM-US) raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings guidance on October 20, lifting its forecast to $9.10-$9.15 per share from a prior range of $8.80-$8.95, citing product price increases, cost discipline and growing demand from semiconductors and AI data centers. Shares rose 2.7% in premarket trading. Third-quarter adjusted revenue reached $6.6 billion, up 4.2% year over year, while adjusted EPS came in at $2.50 versus $2.23 a year earlier. The company said steady U.S. industrial activity and rising demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and materials helped offset weakness in some end markets. 3M supplies chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) consumables, advanced packaging adhesives and process protection products, benefiting as AI chip complexity and fab capacity expansion drive demand. The company launched 87 new products in the quarter and expects more than 350 for the full year. Separately, 3M said Monday it will partner with Taiwan's Genius Electronic Optical (3406-TW) on expanded beam optics (EBO) technology and plans to acquire about a 4.7% stake, targeting AI data center optical interconnect and co-packaged optics opportunities.
