Microsoft (MSFT) on Monday announced a voluntary exit program for eligible employees in Canada, India, the UK, and the U.S., according to a memo from Chief People Officer Amy Coleman. The company confirmed reports that roughly 60,000 workers—more than one-quarter of its workforce—qualify for the offer, though the public memo did not disclose terms. Microsoft employed about 223,000 full-time workers as of June 30, according to its July annual report. Eligible employees were expected to receive program details by email today. Microsoft shares rose about 1% Monday and are up 9% this year. The company is scheduled to report quarterly results this week.
