SK Hynix's Solidigm Abandons US IPO, Lifting Micron and SanDisk Outlook While Weighing on Intel
SK Hynix's Solidigm has scrapped its planned U.S. initial public offering, removing a potential source of NAND flash supply expansion and prompting LYNX Equity Strategies to call the move a material positive for Micron (MU) and SanDisk (SNDKV). In a research note published Friday, LYNX said IPO proceeds would have funded expanded U.S. NAND capacity, potentially raising global supply and pressuring pricing over three years or more. The analysts, led by KC Rajkumar, stressed the impact is limited to the medium- and long-term supply outlook rather than an immediate change to current market conditions. The planned U.S. fab was to be jointly funded by SK Hynix and Intel (INTC) and possibly sited at Intel's Ohio campus, making Intel a modest loser from the shelved project. LYNX cautioned that the broader market environment may cap share gains; Micron closed up 2.46% on Friday, while SanDisk fell 1.82%.
