Micron Technology's Taoyuan union launched a 24-hour strike starting at 9 a.m. at the company's Taoyuan facility, after negotiations with management failed to produce a consensus. Union members will also vote on a proposal the company is set to present at an all-hands meeting at 10 a.m. The union said the company has not offered concrete figures on its four demands, including a profit-sharing plan that Micron first promised to detail at the second mediation meeting on Sept. 21 but never delivered. The union also alleged the company threatened to refuse talks if members assembled. Micron said it reached a consensus and signed an agreement with its Taichung union on Sept. 21 following days of intensive negotiations, and that it will continue good-faith communication with the Taoyuan union in hopes of reaching an accord.
