Anthropic Files for IPO, Shares Could Trade Before Thanksgiving
Anthropic filed for its highly anticipated initial public offering on Monday, with shares potentially beginning trading before Thanksgiving, the Claude maker said in its filing. The company did not disclose how much it plans to raise, though speculation suggests it could seek around $100 billion at a $2 trillion valuation — which would eclipse SpaceX's record IPO, which raised nearly $86 billion at an initial $1.77 trillion valuation. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are lead underwriters, alongside 20 other listed banks. Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.75 billion on revenue of $16.29 billion for the first half of 2026. Quarterly results were not included in the filing but have been leaked and could surface in an amended filing before pricing. Anthropic filed confidential IPO paperwork in early June, weeks after OpenAI did the same; OpenAI has since said it does not expect to go public until next year.
