Eric Schmidt Holds Roughly 1% of Anthropic, Half of CEO Dario Amodei's Stake
Eric Schmidt owns about 1% of Anthropic, roughly half the 2% stake held by co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei, Bloomberg reported. The former Google CEO built the position through tens of millions of dollars invested in the AI lab's 2021 Series A round, when Anthropic was valued at $461 million, according to PitchBook data. Anthropic is widely expected to go public before the end of the year, with top-end market estimates valuing the company at as much as $2 trillion. At that valuation, Schmidt's stake would add as much as $20 billion to a net worth Bloomberg currently puts at $57.5 billion. Schmidt has invested actively since stepping down as Google CEO in 2011, deploying capital through Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management and his family office, Hillspire. His other AI bets include Mistral, General Intuition and Reflection AI. Schmidt and Anthropic did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
