Optimus Technology Acquires SmartHop Freight Platform, Offers Free Dispatch Tool to Carriers

Optimus Technology Inc. announced Monday it has acquired SmartHop's load and fleet management platform and will distribute it free to small and midsize carriers. Deal terms were not disclosed. The Austin, Texas-based company is repackaging SmartHop as a white-label developer kit for financial, insurance and logistics partners reaching tens of thousands of trucking companies, with platforms seeing over 40,000 weekly active users. SmartHop previously raised $16.5 million in Series A funding in February 2021. In return, Optimus captures shipment activity data to feed its Freight Intelligence Graph, a digital twin of the U.S. freight network previewed in August. CEO Ed Stockman said SmartHop "ties in carrier transactions that we wouldn't otherwise have." Freight rates and party identities are redacted, he added. Optimus monetizes through its brokerage product, which Stockman said has generated tens of millions in new gross revenue for customers.
