Double Nickel Launches Vera AI Agent to Automate Truck Driver Employment Verification
Double Nickel said Thursday, Oct. 22, that it launched an artificial intelligence agent, Vera, to automate employment verifications for trucking companies, targeting a manual step in driver recruiting and federal compliance. During a 30-day beta test with two carriers operating more than 500 trucks combined, Vera attempted about 250 verifications and autonomously completed more than 100, a 40% rate, the New York-based company said. Automated verifications averaged one day versus four days for manual handling through Double Nickel's applicant tracking system. Vera costs $7 per verified employment experience, billed only on completion. The agent identifies contacts at prior employers, sends requests and follows up by phone and email, recording and transcribing calls. Double Nickel said Vera identifies itself as a virtual assistant and discloses recording, with consent collected during the application process. The tool addresses 49 CFR 391.23, which requires carriers to investigate prospective drivers' safety histories and document good-faith efforts within 30 days of first service. Vera is now available to all Double Nickel customers.
