Bedrock Robotics Raises $600M Series C at $4.1B Valuation for Autonomous Excavators
Bedrock Robotics has raised $600 million in a Series C round valuing the autonomous construction vehicle startup at $4.1 billion, the company announced. The round was co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital and brings total funding to nearly $1 billion since Bedrock's founding in 2024. The two-year-old company retrofits construction vehicles with self-driving kits. Its autonomous excavators are now commercially operating at a Nevada water treatment facility, a Texas earthwork site run by Champion Site Prep, and a 1.2 million-cubic-yard civil project with Zachry Construction Corporation. New investors include US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Temasek, alongside existing backers 8VC, Georgian, Valor Equity Partners, Xora, Eclipse, Perry Creek Capital, and Nvidia. Co-founder and CEO Boris Sofman previously led Waymo's shuttered self-driving trucks program and co-founded Anki Robotics. Bedrock plans to deploy the capital toward expanding commercial deployments and field support teams. The company cited a skilled-labor shortage, noting it takes five years or more to master excavator operation and that industry group Associated Builders and Contractors estimates over 40% of construction workers will retire within five years. New partner Haydon, an Arizona general contractor, plans to use Bedrock-equipped machines across manufacturing, water, data center, and healthcare projects.
