Anthropic Files for Nasdaq IPO Under Ticker "ANT" as AI Sector Faces Key Test

Anthropic filed for an initial public offering on Monday, moving the maker of the Claude AI platform toward a debut that could rank it among the world's largest publicly traded companies. The shares will list on the Nasdaq Composite Index under the ticker "ANT," with the IPO possible as early as November, according to the S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company said in the filing that "the diffusion of AI through the global economy represents one of the largest opportunities in history to improve how humans live and work, and it is just beginning." The offering will test investor demand across the AI infrastructure chain, including data center builders and chipmakers. Lightshed analysts cautioned in a research note that "Anthropic could become the most valuable company in the world. It could also end up in bankruptcy," adding that competition for investor capital leaves little time to assess the business. Anthropic filed confidentially in June, ahead of rival OpenAI. CEO Dario Amodei has called for a slowdown in AI development amid safety concerns.
