JE Dunn Appoints Colby Cox as Chief Legal Officer, Succeeding Retiring Tom Whittaker

JE Dunn Construction has named Colby Cox as its next chief legal officer, effective Jan. 1, the Kansas City, Missouri-based builder announced Thursday. Cox will succeed Tom Whittaker, who retires after more than three decades with the firm. Cox returns to JE Dunn after serving as vice president and regional general counsel in Atlanta and Kansas City from 2006 to 2017. Since then, he held CLO roles at Tennessee-based general contractor EMJ and Kentucky-based design-build firm Gray. In his new role, he will oversee legal, risk, compliance, governance and growth initiatives. Whittaker joined JE Dunn in 1994 and built the company's legal, risk management, compliance and government affairs functions through decades of expansion. The transition caps a year of growth for the firm, which launched offsite manufacturing subsidiary Form Off-Site Solutions in April and added a power generation unit to its advanced technology group in August.
