Anthropic Expected to Draw High Junk Credit Rating After IPO, Blackstone Forecasts
Anthropic is expected to receive a high "junk" credit rating from rating agencies following its initial public offering, the Financial Times reported, citing guidance Blackstone gave investors in a recent $63 billion deal to finance the AI lab's chips. Blackstone now expects a double-B rating — the top tier of speculative grade — a reversal from its earlier projection that Anthropic would secure an investment-grade rating before 2027. Neither Anthropic nor Blackstone commented. The forecast, if borne out, would raise borrowing costs and complicate funding for the Claude-maker, which has signed large compute-power deals over the past 12 months, drawing investor concern about spending. Anthropic filed to go public earlier this week.
