ASI Raises $325M Series C at $3B Valuation to Expand AI Infrastructure for Aviation, Energy and Defense

ASI, the Boston-based AI startup formerly known as Air Space Intelligence, has closed a $325 million Series C round at a $3 billion valuation, joining the ranks of unicorn companies. The company develops AI simulation and monitoring systems for air traffic, power grids and military operations. Spark Capital led the round, with participation from a Citadel Securities affiliate, Meritech Capital, Craft Ventures, Energy Impact Partners and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). ASI said proceeds will fund deployments in energy, logistics and defense and expand its Boston research and engineering team. The raise follows a $875 million, 12-year contract awarded in June by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the FAA to modernize the national airspace system. According to Bloomberg, ASI beat larger competitors including Palantir Technologies (PLTR-US) and Thales. The FAA deployed ASI software last month at Washington Dulles International Airport. ASI's aviation customers include Delta Air Lines (DAL-US), United Airlines (UAL-US) and Alaska Air Group (ALK-US). In October, the company announced a five-year, $99 million U.S. Army contract supporting the Next Generation Command and Control program.
