OpenAI Launches GPT-6.1 Terra With Halved API Pricing, Targets Enterprise Automation

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra on Monday, a model focused on completing everyday office and computer-use tasks at lower cost. Standard API pricing was cut 50% versus the prior GPT-5.6 Terra generation, with input tokens at $1 per million, cached input at $0.05 and output at $5, down from $2 and $12 respectively. On the Agents' Last Exam benchmark, Terra improved 15 percentage points over its predecessor at medium reasoning effort while costing one-third as much per task. Artificial Analysis reported a 6-point gain on its Intelligence Index at maximum reasoning effort, with per-task cost falling to $0.40 from $1.40. In the AA-Omniscience hallucination benchmark, Terra's guessing rate dropped to 38% from 88%. OpenAI positioned Terra for high-frequency, repetitive computer-operation workflows, while directing complex research and coding tasks to GPT-6.1 Sol or GPT-6 Astra. The model is available to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and via API.
