Junshi's Toripalimab Cuts Death Risk 34% in Phase 3 Lung Cancer Trial
Shanghai Junshi Biosciences (1877.HK) said Tuesday its Phase 3 NEOTORCH trial showed Toripalimab plus chemotherapy reduced the risk of death by 34% in patients with resectable stage II-III non-small cell lung cancer. The anti-PD-1 antibody also cut the risk of disease recurrence, progression or death by 48%. After a median follow-up of 48.2 months in the 501-patient randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, median event-free survival was not reached with Toripalimab versus 20.2 months with placebo. Major pathological response rates were 47% versus 9%, and pathological complete response rates were 26% versus 1%. Median overall survival was not reached in either group, and the safety profile showed no new signals. The final-analysis data were presented at ESMO 2026 and published simultaneously in Annals of Oncology. Junshi said China's regulator accepted an application in July to expand the perioperative indication to stage II-III disease. Junshi shares were up 2.87% at HK$16.13 in Hong Kong trading.
