RobCo Hits $1 Billion Valuation Via $40 Million Secondary Sale
German robotics startup RobCo reached a $1 billion valuation on Monday following a $40 million secondary share sale, with employees selling most of the stock rather than the company. The deal doubles RobCo's roughly $500 million valuation from a January $100 million funding round. New investors include Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective, a fund backed by Wiz founders and Adyen figures. Existing backers Sequoia, Lightspeed and Lingotto participated. Founded in Munich in 2020 by Technical University of Munich researchers, RobCo makes autonomous factory robots, counting BMW among its customers and claiming over 1,000 robots sold under a Robotics-as-a-Service model. CEO Roman Hölzl said the company plans to commercially launch Alfie, its two-armed AI robot, in Munich on March 4, 2027. RobCo now operates across more than a dozen US states, with manufacturing in Austin, Texas.
