Mach9 Raises $34M Series A After Pivoting From Robotics to AI-Powered CAD Software

Mach9, a construction software startup, announced Wednesday a $34 million Series A funding round co-led by First Round Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners. The raise follows the company's pivot from inspection robotics, which it dropped from its name, to AI-powered computer-aided design software for civil engineering. The startup reports nearly 100 customers in its private beta, who have used the software on more than 2,500 projects. Prudence and Quiet Capital also participated in the round. Mach9 says its software automates survey-to-plan drafting, a process it claims takes about a week per mile manually in legacy tools from Autodesk and Bentley Systems, and makes it 10 times faster. CEO Alex Baikovitz said the company trained in-house AI models to achieve centimeter-level accuracy required for infrastructure work, with engineers able to adjust AI-generated drafts. Baikovitz said proceeds will fund product development, hiring industry experts, and organizational scaling. The company is among several startups modernizing construction planning; CivilGrid raised $26 million in August.
