Nvidia is in talks to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Firmus, the data centre company that scrapped a £23bn float earlier this month, as a brutal sell-off hits AI infrastructure stocks. The reported move underscores Nvidia's role as financier to dozens of AI and data centre companies, many of which are ultimately its own customers. Firmus had been expected to list at a valuation of up to A$44bn before cancelling, citing "recent market volatility and prevailing market conditions." Nvidia, the world's most valuable company, already owns roughly 7pc of Firmus. The talks were reported by The Information; neither company commented. The failed IPO has fuelled concern over spending and debt levels at AI data centre operators. Shares in Australia's NextDC fell more than 40pc on Wednesday after a project delay, while South Korea's Elice Group dropped over 30pc on its trading debut. CoreWeave stock has fallen more than a quarter in the past month as its bond yields soared. Citadel's Ken Griffin said Tuesday the market was "almost certainly" in an AI bubble.
