Anduril and Qualcomm announced Tuesday they are jointly developing BlueChip, a hardened laptop aimed at military, government, first responder and law enforcement customers, with preorders set for 2027. About 90% of first-generation components will come from the U.S. or allied countries, including a Snapdragon X Series CPU built at TSMC's Arizona facility, the companies said. Anduril founder Palmer Luckey said the company has a roadmap to reach 100% domestic production over time, covering displays, metallics and magnetics, though some components are currently made only in China. Pricing has not been announced; Luckey estimated BlueChip will cost about 20% more than typical high-end PCs. He said the primary market is federal agencies required to buy U.S.-made computers, with a trackable, auditable supply chain as the selling point. Luckey said consumers may order the device, but it will be heavy with battery constraints due to rugged engineering. The rugged computer market is already about $5 billion, he said.
